Robots Used In Medicine

Prototypes can crawl and swim inside the body taking pictures of areas. This is a robot that will self assemble inside the body, after the patient has swallowed up to 15 separate parts. By operating from inside the body, surgeons could avoid external incisions, minimising pain and shortening recovery time for the patient.

A robotic wrap is wrapped around belt and legs, like a mechanical pair of trousers, that can be attached to a patient to help them stand up and take steps. This improves patients movement and enables them to get around.

There are advantages and disadvantages to robotic use in medicine. The advantages are that they speed up processes and do not need human contact with the patient. They are also more accurate. The disadvantage of these robots is that they are very expensive to buy.
